2018 Four-Way Test Award

The owners and employees are very passionate and involved in supporting their local community by volunteering, leading and serving in organizations, such as United Way, Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, American Red Cross, Chesapeake Housing Mission, Somerset County and Maryland Farm Bureau, Princess Anne and Salisbury Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Club of Salisbury, Mission of Mercy, Relay for Life, Walk to Defeat ALS, the Antioch Angel Corps and their local churches.

The Rotary Club of Salisbury presented its most prestigious award, the 2018 Four-Way Test Award, during a banquet at Dove Pointe on Thursday evening, April 26th. The award was given to Rick and Melody Nelson of Princess Anne, MD in Somerset County; and is only the third time in the 56-year history of the award that it has been presented to two individuals in the same year.

Described as caring, considerate, honest, modest, humble and generous, the Nelsons have spent a lifetime of leading by example.

Each has served our community in several ways. This includes commitments to leadership on several regional boards and agencies such as the Community Foundation, the United Way and Chesapeake Housing Mission, organizations that continually strive to advance and improve communities.

Their service to others often goes unnoticed; and unrewarded except for the personal sense of satisfaction they share. It is not surprising to discover that Rick and Melody have invested their time and personal resources to help address a pressing need in the community, support a church project, provide aid for a friend or lend a helping hand to a stranger. The tenets of the Four-Way Test are evident in the manner with which they treat others.
